After some rains we’ve had warm weather again. I have a few pictures from a walk recently.

Here’s a small valley very close to my house in Marin. The photographer has the San Francisco Bay to her back. This was taken in the late afternoon, just as the sun was dropping below the hills on the right. I really love this valley and have enjoyed many walks on the trails. There is a particular rock that calls my name, to lean back against and connect with nature.

And just after the sun dropped behind the hills.

My sister couldn’t resist taking a couple of shots of me leaning against my rock as the slanting sunlight lit up my eyes in such an interesting way.

View looking north from the valley.

My sister came to visit and we worked some magic with the weather – we had early winter rains at night, then crystal clear and sunny days!  So we ENJOYED this gift to the fullest, and did a little sight-seeing close to home.  Here is the view from the Marin Headlands, where the Golden Gate Bridge reaches land on the north side of the crossing. In the distance you can see San Francisco.  It really is amazing and wonderful that this huge natural reserve and open space has been kept free of development, for the pleasure of anyone who wants to pay a visit.

I bumped into this amazing photo that was taken on December 22, 2010, shortly after the eclipse and Solstice. The photographer is Lisa Bettany and here’s where I found this image. http://www.flickr.com/photos/redpilotmedia/

I especially love the shadows on the water from the buildings.

Nice job Lisa!
